PAINTING

Painting is approached as an autonomous object where perception, imagination and material encounter create new ways of understanding. The practice investigates how two-dimensional surfaces can operate beyond representation, becoming spaces where concepts that exceed direct human perception can be encountered. Rather than illustrating philosophical ideas, the works develop alongside them, allowing form, tonality and surface to become modes of thought.

Drawing from contemporary philosophy, particularly object oriented ontology, dark ecology and theories surrounding hyperobjects, the work explores phenomena that cannot be fully accessed or represented. Climate systems, technological networks, geological time and invisible structures of causality exist beyond individual perception. Their presence is encountered through fragments, traces and material consequences. The works are developed as interconnected studies rather than isolated objects. Each piece represents a different encounter with shared questions surrounding perception, materiality and the limits of representation.

Abstraction becomes not only a formal language but a method of approaching complexity. It creates space for ambiguity, uncertainty and contemplation, allowing meaning to remain open rather than resolved. Ambiguity is not an absence of knowledge or meaning. It is a condition that expands perception.

Darkness operates as both a material and perceptual condition within the work. Black is not treated as an absence, but as a surface containing different intensities, traces and possibilities of perception. Through darkness, the paintings explore the limits between visibility and invisibility, presence and absence. Each work exists independently while participating in wider ecological, philosophical and material systems. Meaning emerges through the relationship between object, viewer and environment.

The work does not seek to resolve complexity, but to create a space where complexity can be encountered.
